Does this Golden Retriever Doing A Trick Upset You?

I shared this video on the Facebook page a few hours ago and it appears this video makes some readers upset.

There was an angry face reaction almost immediately, and a bit of a war in the comments section.  I think most people just saw it for wat it was, simply a dog doing a trick.

Funny, because you don’t hear about it when a dog balances a treat or other object, but I suspect it’s the fact that it is beer in the glass.

This is River, and the video is being taken at Sycamore Brewing in North Carolina. River’s owner says he likes to balance all sorts of things on his head, from pizza to jenga pieces.

Can I just say..please find something serious to get upset over…..  This dog is having the time of his life.

Golden Retriever Slippers from BunnySlippers.com – Review

After much anticipation, I received my golden retriever slippers the other day from Bunnyslippers.com.

Golden Retriever Slipper $34.95

In exchange for a pair of these gorgeous slippers, I was asked to write a blog post review.

The slippers are nice and large for my size 9 feet, have anti-slip soles and a very soft cushioning… and Tucker kind of likes them too!  He chases my feet around the house when I’m wearing them, thinks they are his stuffy when I’m not…

The slippers come in two shades, the lighter shade, which is called the yellow labrador slipper, and the darker reddish, which is the golden retriever.  I chose the yellow labrador slipper, as it is closer to Tucker’s coloring.

The slippers are one size fits all, and fit very large. Foot measures 11″.  They also have other breeds available, such as Pug, Bishon Frise, Boston Terrier, Bulldog, Dachshund, German Shepherd and more.

Thank you so much to Bunnyslippers.com for the fuzzy slippers.

A (very brief) history of International Golden Retriever Day

International Golden Retriever Day began in 2012 from a fellow golden retriever blogger, Kristen,from Iheartgoldenretrievers.com.  Why wouldn’t there be a day to celebrate the best breed in the world?

A gorgeous custom made collar arrived in the mail for Tucker today!  We were selected by IQ Studio to write an honest review of their leather collars hand made in Oklahoma, U.S.A.

I must say I was honored and anticipated the arrival of our special delivery.  Delivery was super fast and nothing beats the smell of real leather.  It’s a must have wardrobe piece for any dog, really…!

Here is Tucker modelling ….

The collars and leashes will last the life of your dog and then some…and the more worn the better I say!  Each collar comes with a Buy it for Life Guarantee.

The hardware is brass and the leather is soft and sturdy.

They come in some beautiful colors that happen to compliment gold quite nicely. Tucker chose atomic blue.

I was a bit concerned about the dye bleeding onto Tucker’s fur so I soaked the collar in lukewarm water for about 20 minutes.  There was some blue dye in the water.  I mentioned this to Angie, who is going to discontinue sending out some of the dyed collars until she can fix this problem.  I am going to try soaking the collar again to see if water will run clear.

For the girls, or the brave boys, you can get a flower on your personalized collar.  I really wanted the flower, in pink, but Tucker would have none of this….  Have another idea in mind?  let Angie know…

“We are constantly seeking new techniques to create a unique, durable, and comfortable collar for your pet. Check out our shop where you can find various collar designs. However, if you have something special in mind, contact us. We would love to work with you in creating your custom one of a kind leather collar.”

The online shopping experience was a pleasure, and the measuring chart is very simple and accurate.

The collars currently are on sale for $44 – $64 USD ($10 off)

For $50.00 you can also add a matching 1 inch 4 foot leash.   A custom designed leather collar and leash…how luxiourious!

Dancing Golden Retriever Wows Judges on America’s Got Talent

58 year old Jose Fuentes and his dancing golden retriever Carrie have been performing since at least 2007.  They have made appearances on shows around the world, including France’s Got Talent and David Letterman.

This YouTube video, entitled “Dancing Merengue Dog” has received over 19 million views.  It was uploaded in August of 2010.

They recently auditioned for this season of America’s Got Talent and the show aired on May 31, 2016.  Here’s the full clip:

They managed to get 3 yeses from the judges, which means they move on to the next round.  I wonder what else they can do?

Once Simon was done laughing, he said it was “Incredible” and he wished his dog could do that.  He voted yes.  Heidi said she liked it for the first 15 seconds…and gave a “no”.

Mel B said she  “loved it” (yes) and Howie did the dramatic pause, before he gave the third “yes”

Carrie throws up her front paws with joy!

After the duo left the stage (Carrie danced off with host Nick Cannon) Simon said “I actually think the dog liked dancing”

Carrie appears to be enjoying herself, and the routine, to the song Shake Senora, is under 2 minutes, but there are some comments on the videos about her hips.  I’m curious what experts would say.

Do you think this is bad for the dog?

Bretagne, The last known surviving 9/11 dog, has died

Bretagne, the last known surviving canine hero who searched the rubble of ground zero after the 9/11 tragedy on September 11, 2001, has crossed the rainbow bridge.  She was a 16 year old golden retriever.

When Denise Corliss, Bretagne’s (pronounced Brittany) owner and handler noticed earlier this week that Bretagne wasn’t eating, she knew something wasn’t right.  Eating was her favorite thing.  Sunday night she wouldn’t settle unless she was right by Denise’s side.
