I must say I was honored and anticipated the arrival of our special delivery.  Delivery was super fast and nothing beats the smell of real leather.  It’s a must have wardrobe piece for any dog, really…!

Here is Tucker modelling ….

The collars and leashes will last the life of your dog and then some…and the more worn the better I say!  Each collar comes with a Buy it for Life Guarantee.

The hardware is brass and the leather is soft and sturdy.

They come in some beautiful colors that happen to compliment gold quite nicely. Tucker chose atomic blue.

I was a bit concerned about the dye bleeding onto Tucker’s fur so I soaked the collar in lukewarm water for about 20 minutes.  There was some blue dye in the water.  I mentioned this to Angie, who is going to discontinue sending out some of the dyed collars until she can fix this problem.  I am going to try soaking the collar again to see if water will run clear.

For the girls, or the brave boys, you can get a flower on your personalized collar.  I really wanted the flower, in pink, but Tucker would have none of this….  Have another idea in mind?  let Angie know…

“We are constantly seeking new techniques to create a unique, durable, and comfortable collar for your pet. Check out our shop where you can find various collar designs. Dancing Golden Retriever Wows Judges on America’s Got Talent

58 year old Jose Fuentes and his dancing golden retriever Carrie have been performing since at least 2007.  They have made appearances on shows around the world, including France’s Got Talent and David Letterman.

This YouTube video, entitled “Dancing Merengue Dog” has received over 19 million views.  It was uploaded in August of 2010.

They recently auditioned for this season of America’s Got Talent and the show aired on May 31, 2016.  Here’s the full clip:

They managed to get 3 yeses from the judges, which means they move on to the next round.  I wonder what else they can do?

Once Simon was done laughing, he said it was “Incredible” and he wished his dog could do that.  He voted yes.  Heidi said she liked it for the first 15 seconds…and gave a “no”.

Mel B said she  “loved it” (yes) and Howie did the dramatic pause, before he gave the third “yes”

Carrie throws up her front paws with joy!

After the duo left the stage (Carrie danced off with host Nick Cannon) Simon said “I actually think the dog liked dancing”

Carrie appears to be enjoying herself, and the routine, to the song Shake Senora, is under 2 minutes, but there are some comments on the videos about her hips.  I’m curious what experts would say.

Do you think this is bad for the dog?

Bretagne, The last known surviving 9/11 dog, has died

Bretagne, the last known surviving canine hero who searched the rubble of ground zero after the 9/11 tragedy on September 11, 2001, has crossed the rainbow bridge.  She was a 16 year old golden retriever.

When Denise Corliss, Bretagne’s (pronounced Brittany) owner and handler noticed earlier this week that Bretagne wasn’t eating, she knew something wasn’t right.  Eating was her favorite thing.  Sunday night she wouldn’t settle unless she was right by Denise’s side.

Golden Retriever Dies at Petco Groomers – Goodbye to Dryer Cages?

Medlothian, VA – Colby was 2 years old and in the prime of his life when Allison Marks took him for his routine grooming on May 29, 2015 at Petco Westchester Commons.  A short time later she received a call from the manager at Petco telling her Colby had been rushed to the local animal hospital and to meet them there.  What a terrifying ride that must have been.  When she arrived at the clinic, she saw Colby lying on a table with his eyes glazed over.

It was determined Colby died of heat stroke, and was left in the dryer cage while his groomer had gone to attend a graduation.  The vet told Marks that Colby’s body temperature was still 105 degrees an hour after he had died.  Petco is stating that no heat was used in the dryer – Petco says “no heat” used in cage dryer that family claims killed golden retriever”

Petco released the following statement:

All of us at Petco are heartbroken by Colby’s passing. The health and safety of pets is always our top priority and we take full responsibility for all animals under our care.

Allison tells ABC news “They didn’t even tell me why I had to go there, just that one of the managers would meet me there, “I walked into it blind.”

There is now uproar on the internet about groomers and dryer cages.  There is currently no licensing requirements for groomers in the US.

Here is a segment from Good Morning AmericaCould Your Pet Be In Danger at the Groomers?

I can honestly say I have almost always bathed my dogs at home, and now will continue to do so.  When I blow dry Tucker I give him breaks when I see he is getting restless.  I would also like to add my humble, un-professional opinion that dogs don’t need to be bathed that regularly.  A few times a year, or after a good roll in the mud is fine.  The soaps strip the natural oils from their coats.  From the research I did, most vets recommend bathing your dog once a month.  I disagree with this.  Of course there are some exceptions to this rule.  My dog doesn’t stink at all, and I brush him about once a week or so, and deal with the fluff balls accordingly, but his coat is amazing and he has no smell.  I think it totally depends on the dog and the situation, including diet, etc.

Will you take your pet to a groomer who uses a dryer cage now?
