Help Wanted!  Must Love Goldens

Hi, and thanks to all that are still following me. I’m looking for a little help, hoping it will give me some inspiration.  Are you someone who likes to do Facebook posts, Instagram posts, as well as Twitter and Pinterest??

I have so many great articles to write about so many great goldens, but I’m having obstacles right now.

If you are someone who loves goldens, has a knack for writing and social media, and has a fairly light, not too opinionated personality (always try to see both sides) please send me an email at
At this point I really don’t make an income, so it would strictly be a volunteer position, however I have high hopes for this blog, and would love to keep it going and grow it even more.

Serious inquiries only please, I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully starting the great new partnership.

Sincerely, Shannon

New Things Happening At The Daily Golden

If you are a regular blog follower on, this post is specifically for you. I’m currently at a loss because I have switched from to self-hosting at Bluehost and seem to have lost the “community feel” of my initial followers and friends. I’m talking Harper Lee, Grady, The Sundog Drift, DogDaz etc. Are these people still seeing my blog? Will they still continue to visit? These have been the most intimate blogging relationships I have had over the last two years.mallard

Do me a favor if you see this post fellow bloggers? Comment, Tweet, Facebook, Instagram message, or email me at – whatever you like to let me know you are still out there and I will make sure to specifically follow your blogs via email. I do not want to lose touch. This is difficult for me, but a decision best made sooner rather than later.

Please stick with me as I face these changes and keep up with all these goldens. They are all so wonderful and generally sweet.

Oh, and please feel free to visit my new page called “Stuff We Like” and recommend products I should add.   While you are there, buy something!.   Amazon is going to boot me if I don’t get any sales soon. (shameless plug).

WordPress followers, you are truly treasured.  Hope you get this.

Happy Mother’s Day from The Daily Golden

Another post for my loyal readers!  I had some very rare alone time today, and have recently been back to blogging after a wee holiday.  It is you who keeps me going, and I truly love every minute.  Enjoying the sunshine on this wonderful day, and am planning a trip to next year’s Blogpaws conference in Nashville Tennessee!  I have been inspired already, and have updated my About The Blogger page, and wanted you to check it out.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, two legged and four.  Since I am a mom, I have declared today all about ME and it feels pretty darn good!  Thanks for all you do moms!  We ROCK!

I wanted to share this that I found on the Golden Rescue Facebook Page today also.  (It’s good to be back!)

Before I Was a Pet Mom

Before I was a Pet Mom:
I made and ate hot meals unmolested.
I had unstained, unfurred clothes.
I had quiet conversations on the phone,
even if the doorbell rang.

Before I was a Pet Mom:
I slept as late as I wanted
and never worried about how late I got to bed
or if I could get into my bed.

Before I was a Pet Mom:
I cleaned my house every day.
I never tripped over toys, stuffies, chewies
or invited the neighbour’s dog over to play.

Before I was a Pet Mom:
I didn’t worry if my plants, cleansers,
plastic bags, toilet paper, soap or deodorant
were poisonous or dangerous.

Before I was a Pet Mom:
I had never been peed on,
pooped on, drooled on,
chewed on or pinched by puppy teeth.

Before I was a Pet Mom:
I had complete control of my thoughts,
my body and mind.
I slept all night without sharing the covers or pillow.

Before I was a Pet Mom:
I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn’t stop a hurt.
I never knew something so furry and four-legged
could affect my heart so deeply.

Before I was a Pet Mom:
I had never held a sleeping kitty
just because I couldn’t put it down.
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was well.
I didn’t know how warm it feels inside
to feed a hungry puppy.
I didn’t know that something so small
could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Pet Mom:
I had never known the warmth, the joy,
the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the
satisfaction of being a Pet Mom

Check out the New Look at The Daily Golden

After two years of dreaming, I decided to get a custom Facebook header, cover page and Twitter background in an attempt to “brand” the blog.

I have done some research and even asked around to some of my readers, Twitter followers etc.

One evening I was participating in a Blog Paws chat, and someone recommended fellow pet blogger Debbie Glovatsky from  Glo Girly Design.  After checking out her site, I became excited, as her designs are exactly the type I have been looking for, cartoon-y, whimsical and fun!

Debbie was quick to respond, provide a reasonable quote and set up a phone meeting.  She was an absolute pleasure to work with, and hopefully I have more work for her in the future 😉

What do you think of the new look?  Don’t forget to go check out my Twitter and Facebook too!!

A special thank you to Jo Danehy at The Sundog Drift for allowing me to use her photo of the goldens for so long!

Golden Retriever of the Month – Harper Lee

Introducing Miss Harper Lee from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was named after the famous author of To Kill a Mockingbird.

Harper Lee has an award winning blog “The K9 Harper Lee” that is written by her, she actually does the blog posts herself, really!

In her blog she likes to share cool ideas, like recipes and stuff, tested by her of course!

She is quite the princess, and her favorite color is purple.

Harper Lee turns 5 on Monday, March 17 and is already celebrating.  Happy Birthday sweetie!

One of her favorite times of the year, Mardi Gras!

Another fun fact, Harper Lee has a miniature horse friend named Penny!

Someone looks like they are spoiled with lots of stuffie toys..

Even though she is a delicate princess, sometimes she likes to get a little crazy.

HL loves to cheer on her favorite team with her humans.

and help them out in the garden whenever possible

Time for an adorable puppy picture!!!

Harper Lee is also on Instagram. Here’s one of my favorites of her.

You can also check her out on Twitter and Facebook !  Stop by and tell her The Daily Golden sent you.

The best lesson I get from Harper Lee’s blog? Always take time to stop and smell the roses!

Dear Blog Followers…What’s Happenin’ @ The Daily Golden

This one’s not for the Google search engines, or my Twitter, Instagram or Facebook followers…this one is for the blog followers, who have been faithful throughout the last two years of my blogging – sometimes random stuff, sometimes sad stuff, and sometimes happy stuff.  And of course the occasional post about my beloved Tucker.

Lately, my posts have been very limited.  It’s not that there hasn’t been anything to blog about, it’s simply that I haven’t had the ambition, or the time, depending on the day….It’s the coldest winter on record in the last million years or something…and I have been dealing with lots of other stuff that I will not bore you with.

Here’s the part where I ask…what is it that you like most about my blog?  How can I go forward in 2014?  Do you watch my “golden video of the week”? and does it make your day?

Basically, I suppose I’m looking for a little reassurance, and some insight.  I am also always looking for pictures or stories or “golden retriever(s) of the month”.

This is a link to my last year’s blog report…

Thanks for sticking with me through this time.  Here’s to the future of the best golden retriever blog ever 😉

2012 in review – 200th Post!

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 26,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 6 Film Festivals
