Several Golden Retrievers Rescued After Owner Found Dead

Crawford County, PA – A 53 year old man lay dead in his house for  2 weeks before being discovered by a neighbor.  The man bred golden retrievers, and there were approximately 30 of them living in in the house at the time of the man’s death.

By the time he was discovered, some of the dogs had died of dehydration/starvation.  The remaining dogs appeared to be well cared for, and required medical attention.

The Anna Shelter has had an overwhelming response for the dogs and have closed the adoption process on the golden retrievers and they are in the process of finding new homes for them.

  2. So sad that some of the dogs did not make it, but I am happy that others are well into the process of finding new homes. And what does it say about our society that a man can be dead in his home for two weeks before anyone becomes concerned enough to check on him? Now that’s really sad.
