Golden Retriever with 46 lb Tumor Abandoned On Beach

Last month, animal control officer Valarie Schomburg found a lopsided golden retriever wandering alone in the Newport Beach area..  It turns out the dog had been abandoned, probably due to the large mass on his right side.

“Everybody who has seen him has kind of taken up a [sigh] ‘Oh, my Lord.’ But the whole time, he’s trying to give you kisses and wagging his tail and so that kept us going for the time until we can make a decision,”  said Valerie in an article from CBS Los Angeles.

Valarie, too, fell in love with the sweet, affectionate canine and with some financial assistance and a local vet, managed to have the tumor removed.  It has been 6 days since the operation, and Henry now weighs a 78 lbs.

According to the article from  CBS Los Angeles, after a few weeks of healing, Henry will be ready to find his new forever home.
