Daisy is a beautiful 4 year old golden retriever from Winchester, Kentucky. She has a sidekick named Lilly, (a beagle) and a great human named Courtney who loves to train her, take cool pictures and videos, and has recently started agility training.
Daisy came to her home when she was a small puppy, and right from the start, she was treated like the princess that she is!
She now is a pro at getting “dressed up”! Daisy and Lilly get decked out for most special occasions.
Sometimes it doesn’t go as planned, but they have fun!
Daisy has graduated from Click-A-Trick training and can do about 25 different tricks, like bowing, waving, and playing dead. Here’s Lilly and Daisy showing off for the camera:
Jack Maffei a handsome 1 year old golden retriever from San Diego, California and is a typical California boy. He captured my heart from his many adventures on his Facebook page. His birthday is December 5th. Something tells me we will be seeing more of this young man. We have 10 years at least, hopefully Tucker and Jack will be able to run on the beach together someday…sigh…
Jack loves to swim… Everywhere. In the ocean:
In the pool:
.And even in fountains:
Jack’s favorite toy is the good ‘ol fashioned tennis ball.
Jack loves to shop, and he’s got style.
Jack likes to travel in style too…look at that proud grin!
Jack also likes to stay in touch with his friends on his Facebook and Twitter pages.
Jack has no brothers or sisters, but has lots of friends! This is Chuck…
Sometimes Jack gets into mischief.
Jack loves to go for car rides
Jack is very handsome, and likes to pose
Jack is spoiled and has lots of toys.
Jack is in training to become a therapy dog, and his mom says he can’t wait!
Jack sleeps on his bed at night, beside his “dad” and comes up for cuddles in the morning when invited. He is a very good boy!
Today is World Cancer Day, so I figured it was the perfect day to feature February’s Golden Retriever of the Month, Parker, aka “Parker Pup”.
“Parker” – Facebook.com/ParkerPup
Parker is a 5 year old golden retriever from Beaverton, Oregon who says his most important job, aside from being a loyal family member, is being a therapy dog. He likes to visit cancer patients and children learning to read. Parker earned his CGC before the age of one. He is also a cancer advocate by often raising funds and awareness. Aside from his busy schedule, in his spare time he likes to hang out with his big “sister” Daisy and competes in Agility.
This video explains most of his work to date:
Parker is a model and celebrity in the dog world. Here he is in Time’s Square:
He was issued in the December 2009 issue of Vanity Fair
Parker has also appeared in print and television ads and won 2 WorldWide Fido crowns. You can read all about his life from puppyhood on his website ParkerPup.com or visit his facebook page at Facebook.com/ParkerPup and Twitter @parkerpupdotcom
If you read my blog, you have seen some of the videos I have posted of Parker and his “sister” Daisy staring in their own YouTube videos. These are not to be missed!! Check out their YouTube channel here.
Just last month Parker starred in a live performance of “Cheaper by the Dozen” which ran for several nights at the Hart Theatre in Hillsboro and he received amazing reviews.

I managed to get in touch with Parker’s human, Jenn, who answered a few questions for me on behalf of Parker.
Question: Where is your favorite place to sleep?
Parker: “Recently I’ve been allowed (when I am invited) to get up into the chair to sit on my human’s lap. But if I’m not invited, I have a really comfy pillow close to the fireplace where I love to lay.”
Question: What is your favorite toy?
Parker: “Tennis balls! Actually technically my favorite is my orange and blue Chuck-It ball. “
Question: Do you ever steal food off of the counter?
Parker: “Never.”
Question: What is the last thing you destroyed?
Parker: ” I haven’t destroyed anything for quite awhile.Unless, well.. do you count tomato plants in the backyard? If that’s the case, I LOVE to swipe tomatoes out in the back yard, LOL!! Wait.. is this ‘on the record?’
Question: Where is your favorite spot to be petted?
Parker: “Ear scratchies and neck massages. My family does the whole TTouch thing all over about every other day and I love it” (and it’s good for checking for lumps and bumps, too).
Thanks Jenn and Parker!
Okay, now for the serious stuff. Cancer
Parker is active in raising money for both The Morris Animal Foundation and The American Cancer Society. On April 28, 2013 he is participating in Elk Grove K9 Cancer Walk Benefiting Morris Animal Foundation. Here is the link to his fundraising page. Help them reach there goal, they are almost halfway there!
In 2013 The Daily Golden will feature a different golden retriever each month as “Golden Retriever of the Month”. There are so many great goldens out there, but this first post is dedicated to Ricochet, The SURFice Dog.
“I’m an internationally renowned, award winning surf dog who has become an inspirational phenomenon, motivational role model, internet sensation, fundraising marvel, goodwill ambassador, and muse to millions! I’m the only known dog in the world that surfs with special needs kids and people with disabilities as an assistive aid. But, mom says I’m just an ordinary dog with an extra-ordinary spirit.”
-Ricochet (SurfDogRicochet.com)
Ricochet began her training at birth to be a service dog, but eventually had to be removed from the program because she liked to chase birds a bit too much. She began surfing, and then fundraising, and came into her own. Ricochet went from service dog to SURFice dog, and surfs with persons with disabilities, counter balancing the surfboard, and serves as a helper if someone falls off the board. Ricochet has helped raise over $250,000 for more than 150 animal/human causes and continues to bring joy to many doing various service work.
Here she is following commands from an ipad that a verbally disabled girl is prompting, her handler not required
As recently as December, Ricochet teamed up with Angel Bears of Hope to donate 700 bears to the children of Sandy Hook Elementary School after the tragic events of December 14th.

In her spare time, Ricochet likes to hang with her “sister” Rina and her mom, Judy Fridono, who has an associates degree in assistance dog training. She also likes to surf, dock jump, chase critters, and visit wounded warriers. She also likes to appear on TV. (Today Show, CNN, The Oprah Winfrey Network)
There is so many accomplishments this golden girl has achieved, I could go on all day! Please check out Ricochet’s website SurfDogRicochet , and follow her on Facebook or Twitter and donate!
