On Sunday Feb 17th, Peggy Bobrow was walking her golden retriever, King and her daughter’s golden retriever, Sadie at The Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Illinois when they encountered a coyote and the dogs took off. Peggy followed behind, only to discover Sadie in a hole in the ice in the middle of a pond. Peggy called 911 and rescue workers met her at a parking lot 1/2 mile away.

When they returned to the scene, there were 4 coyotes surrounding Sadie. An officer at the scene said they were “waiting” for her, as in to eat for breakfast.
The coyotes scattered and one of the brave rescue workers went out on a ladder and brought Sadie to safety and she seems to be doing well at home by the fireplace.
On February 7, a group of golden retriever puppies were found wandering, and subsequently picked up by the Cleveland County Animal Control. On the day they were placed for adoption, (last Wednesday) there were people waiting outside. Perspective puppy buyers filled the reception area filling out adoption forms. Due to a post on their Facebook page, all five dogs had been adopted within minutes of opening their doors.

According to comments on the original article posted in the Shelby Star, the dogs were listed as “labs” when found and the family searching for them came up empty. Animal control slapped them with a hefty fine to claim the puppies so they ended up turning them over.
Does your golden retriever have “ruff”, cracked paws? Tucker does. A few weeks ago My Dog Paws was donating $1 for every lotion bar purchased to the ASPCA in honor of Puppybowl.
I decided to order a bar for Tucker and we received in the mail a few days later. I put some on Tucker’s paws and rubbed it in. He didn’t seem to mind at all. The results were instant.
I really like this lotion bar because it doesn’t leave an oily or greasy residue on the dogs paws that will ruin your carpets and floors. I think a 2 oz tin will probably last his lifetime. It can also be used on dry noses.
The bars are all natural, chemical free and fragrance free.
They offer free shipping anywhere in the US. (Due to high shipping costs, they are unable to ship Internationally at this time)
Say what you will about Charlie Sheen, but he is a generous soul. He recently wired 15 year old Teagan Marti $10,000 towards the purchase of a golden retriever service dog.

Teagan was injured in 2010 in an amusement park tragedy when the free falling ride went terribly wrong. She suffered severe injuries and was hospitalized for 3 months. Teagan now walks with the help of a walker.

The golden retriever puppy will be trained to turn lights on and off, pick up objects, and be Teagen’s full time companion by trainer Jake Guell in Fond Du Lac, WI.
Teagan will receive the dog on her birthday in September, and Sheen suggested she name it Charlie.
